The Kindaichi Case Files (金田一少年の事件簿 Kindaichi shōnen no jikenbo) is a detective media franchise created in 1992 by Yōzaburō Kanari, Seimaru Amagi and Fumiya Sato. Originally a manga series, The Kindaichi Case Files has since been adapted into numerous live-action TV series, two successful TV anime adaptions, 3 feature films, and numerous light novels.

The series is focused on Hajime Kindaichi, a lazy high school student with an IQ of 180. However, as the grandson of famous detective Kosuke Kindaichi, he kicks into action when presented with a mystery that needs solving.

Most of the mysteries featured in the series are serial murders, where the suspects are often isolated in a remote location. The culprit usually goes by an alias, such as "The Afterschool Magician", "Mr. Redrum", or "Hell's Puppeteer". By the end of the case, the identity of the alias-bearing killer is revealed by Kindaichi as one of the suspects.
